We are always working for the betterment of the environment. But we can’t do it alone, which is why we need partners like you and organizations dedicated to combating climate change. One of our most important allies is The Nature Conservancy.
The Nature Conservancy was founded in 1951 and has spent the last 50+ years working to preserve our land and waterways around the world. Working in all 50 states and 35 countries, they have managed to protect nearly 120 million acres of land and thousands of miles of waterways according to their website.
Working around the world in every environment to address the affects of climate change on land, water, wildlife, and people, they strive to address deforestation by encouraging forest-friendly development, promoting the introduction by governments of incentives for preserving and restoring forests, and actively replenishing trees. Their Plant A Billion Trees movement aims to plant 1 billion trees by 2025 and a their forest restoration project in Brazil was recently the first in the nation to earn validation based the Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Standards by The Rainforest Alliance.
In addition to actively working to reverse and prevent the effects of climate change, The Nature Conservancy also works proactively with especially threatened people to prepare for life in the changing environment. According to their website, this “’ecosystem-based adaptation’ will help secure food, water, and safety for people in the face of climate change threats.” These efforts are both at home and abroad, spanning from the Long Island Sound to North Carolina, to the Solomon Islands, South America, and Mongolia.
Our collaboration with The Nature Conservancy means a portion of every sustainable purchase you make from us goes towards their efforts. Just by shopping responsibly you’re supporting the cause.
